The Top Smartphones For 2015 Reviewed
Sunday June 21, 2015, marked the longest day of the year and with the passing of the summer solstice, it’s time to reflect on the top smartphones for 2015.
With it being the mid-point of the year we got to thinking about all of the best new smartphones out there right now.
From the top smartphone cameras, to the best smartphone for business and more, we want to look at the best of the best and give you an option to find a great device at a reasonable price. We’ve offered an iPhone 6 review, Samsung Galaxy S6 review, iPhone 6 Plus review and Samsung Galaxy S6 review for you to consider at the end of the post.
However, before we get to the current models, we need to look at what are some of the rumored new phones on the horizon.
The Latest Smartphone News
We anticipate a new iPhone release, possibly the rumored iPhone 7 in fall 2015, but it may also be an upgrade from the widely successful iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus. Either way, it’s bad news in the Apple vs Android battle. It could really gain on the momentum that Apple has over the Android Operating System if true.
Understand that these are just rumors, but we keep hearing that there may be a new iPhone 7 with a September release date, a Samsung Galaxy S6 and Note 5 upgrades as well as some others. We focus our attention on the Apple vs Android feud between the iPhone and Galaxy line, and will discuss some other devices in future articles.
The iPhone 7 Rumors
Some of the things we’ve seen about the potential iPhone 7
- Possibly two versions, a larger screen than the iPhone 6 Plus as well as a smaller, 4-inch screen.
- More memory than current models, the iPhone 7 may come with more than 256 MB of memory.
- Much improved camera technology. Apple has always been at the forefront of the top smartphone cameras and with every release they improve on their strengths. We anticipate more of the same with them, potentially improving on the camera lenses on both sides of the phone.
- With the release of iOS 9, we expect the new iPhone to continue to offer some incredible tools and Apps to make the new device the best smartphone for business once it’s released.
And the potential of a new iPhone 7 has stirred Samsung to start its whisper campaign of a new Galaxy S7. That shouldn’t shock anyone paying attention to what the industry has been doing.
The ebb-and-flow that exists in the battle between Apple vs Android is led by Samsung and the timing of their smartphone releases. Basically, it works like this: Samsung releases a phone in the spring, Apple announces a new release in the Fall. Samsung counters with an upgrade the following year and Apple creates a major new upgrade right afterward.
And the winner is the consumer.
From the best new smartphones out there right now, like the iPhone 6 and Samsung S6 as well as the rumored phones, the consumer is the big winner with the Apple vs Android skirmish.
So, with the iPhone 7 rumors out of the way, what about some of the others? Not to sit on it’s laurels, Samsung is rumored to counter Apple’s updates with some of their own.
The Samsung Galaxy S7
Some of the highlights for a new Samsung Galaxy S7
- An improved camera, rumored to be 20 MP to rival the one built by Apple, and with a large Hi-def resolution screen to view the images.
- Incredibly fast Octa-Core 2000MHz processor with 4 GB RAM, with 32 GB internal memory that may be upgraded to 128 GB to speed up your browsing and App use.
- Major improvements to WiFi and NFC technology to pair with Samsung pay, the rival to Apple Pay and one that has yet to gain any real traction.
Whether we see major upgrades or newer models of the iPhone and Galaxy line, another hot-button rumor around right now is another Samsung entrant.
Also, the Samsung Note 5 is supposedly on the horizon.
The Samsung Note 5 rumors
How does the Note 5 compare to the other top smartphones for 2015?
Well, it seems that the Note 5 would offer both fingerprint recognition and a retina scanner.
If true, that would make the Note 5 the most secure phone out there, and if you’re looking for the best smartphone for business, this security feature alone may be worth it.
What these security features mean is that only the person(s) authorized for the Note 5 would be allowed to access it. A fingerprint and retina scanner is the stuff of science fiction, and your documents, proprietary information, and other sensitive data would be absolutely safe with the proposed Note 5.
Until the future is today and these rumors either become dispelled or become real, we need to focus our attention on the devices that we know re great. So now we turn our attention to the iPhone 6, the iPhone 6 Plus, Samsung Galaxy S6 and the Samsung Galaxy Note 4.
