Is It Too Early To Award The Best Smartphone 2015?

The Award For Best Smartphone 2015

What is the best smartphone right now?  Any guesses?  With so many recent releases, including some entries at the start of 2015, we decided to start analyzing the best of the best.

It’s early in the year yet, in 2015 there are already some outstanding phones. So that got us thinking about who to reward as the best smartphone 2015 this early in the calendar.

Obviously, there are the two awesome phones by Apple, the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus. Each phone seems to have stormed the market since their release in late 2014, and there are rumors of an iPhone 6s in the pipeline to be released in the fall of 2015.

Apple Has Two Entries – The iPhone 6 And iPhone 6 Plus

Built in the standard durable, reliable and sleek model that is Apple’s calling card, the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus are incredible. They could even be considered among the best smartphones on the market right now.

We believe that the iPhone 6 is the best smartphone on the market, with it’s sister phone, the iPhone 6 Plus being not too far behind. But in order to award the best smartphone 2015 to a single new phone, we need to delve further.

So let’s look at other potential awardees before we announce to you our choice.

The HTC One M8 – Great Looking Phone!

First there is the HTC One M9 update, an amazing entry for the best smartphone award.

In the standard that HTC has become known for, the HTC One M9 phone is built into the uni-body aluminum casing. While slightly smaller than the iPhones, the HTC One M9 is not much smaller than the iPhone 6. That means that screen display won’t sacrifice too much.

However, the major upgrade that the HTC One M9 has it’s own line, as well as that of it’s competitors is a 20-Megapixel camera. This upgrade removes the HTC’s one limitation; it’s camera quality to the head of the pack.

The HTC One M9 operates on the Android v5.0 allowing you access to an array of developers and Apps on the Android marketplace for you to personalize your phone.

There’s the iPhone line; there’s the HTC line and then there’s the Flagship line from Samsung, the Galaxy S6.

The Samsung Galaxy S6 – More Awesomeness

Our guess is that after a few months, it could be an even tie between the iPhone 6 and Samsung Galaxy S6 for best smartphone 2015 award.

Why do we believe the two are so comparable?

It has nothing to do with the fact that the Galaxy S6 mirrors the iPhone 6 in detail.

The Galaxy S6 is 5.1 inches of sleek design and smart technology. With a small, near-impervious design, the Galaxy S6 is both style and substance.

Some basic facts about the Samsung Galaxy S6:

  • Display: Super AMOLED 1440 x 2560 pixels (557 ppi density) with 16M colors. The high-resolution display and large screen makes image viewing, documents and text reading incredibly easy.

  • Camera: 16 MP 2988 x 5312 pixels with Optical Image Stabilization, Auto-Focus, LED Flash and Geo Tagging. It also comes installed with great camera features such as Touch Focus, Face Detection, Auto HDR and Panorama.

  • Software and Operating System Technology: The Android OS, v5.02 Lollipop on a Quad-Core 1.5 GHz processor. The Galaxy S6 comes with 32/64/128 GB memory and 3GB Ram.

  • Features: Much like the iPhone 6 and Plus, the Samsung Galaxy S6 comes with a Fingerprint Sensor for security and touch pay. As opposed to Apple, you can use a fingerprint to pay for goods through Paypal, as well as Visa and Mastercard.

  • Additionally, the Galaxy S6 comes with OneDrive installed with 115GB Cloud storage, wireless charging, and a rear mounted heart rate monitor.

The Samsung Galaxy S6 allows quick access and hyper-fast processing speed for you to access emails, documents and online browsing. Additionally, by operating on the Android platform, users get access to the Android App Marketplace to allow them the largest access of Apps in the world. That means that for users who wish to personalize their phones, it’s easy to download an App, whether its productivity, social media or other options.

In summary, with the iPhone 6 and 6 Plus, the HTC One M9 and Samsung’s Galaxy S6, there are some incredible new entries in the marketplace. Consumer electronics, and those who follow trends are sure to be happy with whatever model they choose.

But to award the best smartphone 2015 this early in the year is an easy decision. Even with the knowledge that there is a few more quarters in the year, and with that will come additional phones, we feel confident in our decision.  If there comes a time that a new entry is worthy, we’ll reassess our ranking and consider awarding a new champion.

But for right now, it’s a hand’s down tie – between the iPhone 6 and the Samsung Galaxy S6.

You can’t go wrong choosing either model.  It’s all just a matter of choice about styles, operating systems and design.
